get involved
While there haven’t been a lot of volunteer opportunities with WLCA since the Facebook page became self-serve, there are times when having some help is essential. If you are interested in lending a hand, WLCA welcomes people who want to volunteer for the following positions (must be over 18). Use our contact form to inquire!

Tiny, three month-old Mango was photographed lying up against a curb in a hotel parking lot in St James. She had been seen eating discarded pizza crusts under cars. One of our volunteer trappers rescued her. Friendly, but dehydrated and underweight, she made a swift recovery and became a stunning show-worthy cat. Her adoptive mom even made an Instagram account for her. Lots of fans!
Drivers
Volunteer drivers pick up, and drop off rescues, from finders and for vet appointments, pick up and drop off donated items, and assist people who have no vehicle get their cats to their spay/neuter appointments.
Rescue Trappers
Rescue trappers sit in their vehicles watching a set trap, with a remote trigger. When the correct cat enters, they remotely close the trap door, cover the trap with a sheet and place the trap in the vehicle for immediate transport.
Independent Fund-raisers
Do you bake? Are you crafty? Do you run or do some other sport? Are you a business owner? Do you have a green thumb? Why not use your talents to help WLCA cats? You hold the event and donate the proceeds to the cats!
You can create many different kinds of fundraisers to raise money for our rescue cats. They don’t have to be elaborate in order to be successful.
- Hold a bake sale at your local church
- Collect pledges while you train to participate in your favorite sport
- If you own your own business, have a “round up” for kitties event where customers round up their purchase totals to the nearest dollar, so you can donate the difference.
- Have a community garage sale where a percentage of earnings is donated.
- Hold a “treat day” at work and ask for a donation to participate.
- If you grow veggies, hold a mini farmer’s market and donate the proceeds.
