Trapper Map

Areas of Winnipeg with known/suspected trappers

WLCA keeps track of locations, around Winnipeg, where we believe people have been trapping and relocating, or harming cats. TNR is the process of trapping cats to have them sterilized and returned to their area. That use of trapping is for the good of the cat, and the community. Rather than doing the right thing, some trappers relocate cats to other parts of the city, or outside the city. Cats visiting residents often cause people to start trapping. They think this is the only option to prevent cats from coming into their yards. Sadly, some people go as far as trapping and killing. Cats need to stay in their own homes and yards. This simple policy would prevent thousands every year from meeting with foul play.

Following cat disappearances has allowed us to target areas of potential harm. Community warnings go out on social media when we suspect a trapper. This practice has allowed us to uncover disturbing trends that can lead to arrests for cruelty. We also list areas where we know a trapper exists.

Clicking on the specific areas in red provides more information for each community. We add highlights to this map when we hear about instances of three, or more, cats disappearing in a concentrated area.
